Northen Adventure Part 1.5

This post a little late however, it does not mean that a great was had by all on FRIDAY JULY 9, 2010!

On this day, Ms. Duke and I went on a lovely northern adventure part 1.5 ( we don't speak of part 1*), where we travelled to Elk Lake Eco Center for lunch. However, our lunch date quickly and easily turned into a full day event filled with girly cocktails, hot tubs, docks and the Montreal River (which may or may be full of leaches--still under debate).

For lunch we both had delicious home made fish and chips, along with homemade (of course) tartar sauce. To be honest, I am normally very against tartar sauce because I have a fear of mayonnaise-there is just something about raw eggs and oil mixed together that seems a little unnatural. However, this day I was feeling a bit daring and indulged, correction, heavily indulged in the tartar sauce and it ROCKED. Not to mention, the fish and chips were a perfect lunch portion size and were light but very filling-- I cleared my plate and I even ate the celery sticks. In addition, a girls day date, is not complete without fruity, pink cocktails. Thus, as soon as we arrived, we instantly requested a set of girly cocktails and what was created for us, was divine. My guess of the mystery fruity cocktail, can simply be an adult Shirley temple with a pineapple twist.

After completing our lunch, we moved onto the patio, with a refreshed glass of fruity girl cocktails, where we chat chitted with the director (Pam) of Elk Lake Resource Center. We soon then had tour of the facility.

Elk Lake Eco Center sports 6 cabins, with 6 bedrooms each one. They all have a walk out patio attached to them. The cabins also bare a kitchenette and two fully stalked bathrooms.

After the tour, we were fortunate enough to be allowed to use the rest of facilities on the grounds. Our first stop was the hot tub, and of course, this was accompanied by another fruity girly cocktail. Pam, graciously let us borrow fluffy brown towels to use after we were finished with our 'water sport activities'( I use the words sport and activities lightly--we really just sat on our asses). Due to the fact, that it was 30 plus degrees on Friday, the hot tub became WAY TOO HOT, and we ventured down to the waterfront.

Elk Lake Resource Center, has a enormous dock located on the Montreal River!!! I was brave, and dove off the dock at one point; no big deal.

Ms. Duke and I both blopped ourselves into the Montreal River to rinse the chlorine off. We both feared that we may get attacked by leaches and had no salt available to defend ourselves, BUT fortunately, the leaches decided not to strike war against us. We then spent the rest of the day lounging and tanning (burning) on the dock.

OVERALL... it was an awesome and if you ever have the opportunity to visit the center, I highly recommend it. Not just for the scenery but more for the FAB creative beverages and food (yum).

*part 1 was a super fun day (Ms. Duke and I always have fun days) but quickly became far too complicated to go into with any great detail
